Come across the rich flora and fauna of Sagarmatha National Park

Likewise, in terms of fauna, this national park is particularly famous for snow leopards, Himalayan black bears, and red pandas. Other mammal species found in the park include musk deer, Himalayan tahr, and the endangered Himalayan wolf. Birdwatchers can spot a wide variety of birds in the park, including the Impeyan pheasant, snow cock, and the Himalayan monal.

Our three passes trek begins from today onwards. We have a thrilling Lukla flight ahead of us in the morning, followed by a 3 to 4 hours trek to Phakding village. We may have to take the Lukla flight from Manthali airport instead of Kathmandu domestic airport. Usually, if the air traffic gets bad, authorities move Lukla's flight to Manthali airport, located 4 to 5 hours away from Kathmandu.

So as per our flight takeoff location, we will wake up and drive to the airport. The flight to Lukla airport is short and mesmerizing. The snow-capped Himalayas setting from the air is surreal. At Lukla airport, we will be joined by the porters who'll carry our duffel bags for the rest of the journey.

The trail goes downhill through lush forests and beautiful villages. We will cross suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi river multiple times on the way. Passing through Ghat village, the trail descends to Phakding, where we'll spend the night.

The hike let us witness views of mountains like Thamserku, Chamlang, Kongde Ri, Khumbila, Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam. From Hotel Everest View, we have the option to continue hiking to the ancient Khumjung monastery or return to Namche Bazaar.

The trail then takes us to a wide basis that has many small frozen lakes. We then walk through a loose scree and reach the top of Kongma La pass, marked with prayer flags. From the top of the pass, we can see an outstanding mountain landscape, the Khumbu glacier, and icy lakes. We then trek through the Khumbu glacier and descend to Lobuche village.
