Detail About Phaplu To Gokyo Trek

Are you at the stage of your life that you are looking for a big physical challenge? Are you looking for adventure and beauty? Well, Mountain Ram Adventures has this all wrapped up together in a 20 day trek for you.

The Phaplu to Gokyo trek is not your average hike. It is equally strenuous as rewarding.

You will take the thrilling drive from Kathmandu to Phaplu to begin your journey. As you are in the vehicle, keep an eye on the landscape that you will surely get closer to over the next few days of travel.

Your trekking days will range from approximately 3 – 7 hours of arduous walking. The views of Cho Oyu, Makalu, Lhotse will surely take your breath away. And of course then there’s Mount Everest, a beauty on her own. You will have plenty of time to fall in love, as many others before you have, in the pristine landscape and culture this area has to offer.

One of past Mountain Ram Adventure trekkers’ favorite stops is the Namche Bazaar. You will have time there to acclimatize, speak to fellow trekkers, and of course… shop!

From Namche Bazaar, we continue on making our way through the Sherpa villages of Dole and Machhermo, then onto the amazing Gokyo Lakes in Nepal's Sagarmatha National Park.

The ultimate end part of this trek leads you to the top of Gokyo Ri, located on the west side of the Ngozumpa glacier, the largest glacier in Nepal. There is only a hamlet with a few stone houses there in this area.

Now that you have completed the ‘difficult part’ of your journey, you will now backtrack through Namche (more last minute shopping!) and off to Lukla to take an exciting flight back to Kathmandu where your journey began.

This trek offers such a different visual perspective on the Nepal Himalayas. We hope you join us as we become explorers together in this magnificent region.

Trip Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu (Pick up and transfer to the hotel)
Day 02: Sightseeing tour in Kathmandu (4 world heritage sights)
Day 03: Kathmandu to Phaplu drive (8 to 10 hours)
Day 04: Phaplu to Takshindo Trek 6 hours trek.
Day 05: Takshindo to Kharikhola 7 hours trek.
Day 06: Kharikhola to Puiyan 6 hours trek.
Day 08: Puiyan to Phakding 6 hours trek.
Day 09: Phakding to Namche 6 hours trek.
Day 10: Namche Acclimatization day.
Day 11: Namche to Dole 6 hours trek.
Day 12: Dole to Mochhermo 5 hours trek.
Day 13: Mochhermo to Gokyo 5 hours trek.
Day 14: Gokyo to Gokyo Ri or Fifth Lake hike.
Day 15: Gokyo to Dole 6 hours trek.
Day 16: Dole to Namche 5 hours trek.
Day 17: Namche to Lukla 7 hours trek.
Day 18: Lukla to Kathmandu flight 30m.
Day 19: Extra day in Kathmandu (spare day for fligth cancelations.
Day 20: Final departure to international airport.

Cost Includes

Note: You are advised to have one or two extra days after the trek because the flight to and from Lukla is uncertain due to the weather.
