Our team will warmly welcome you and will be assisting you with your carriage and drop you off at your designated hotel via a private vehicle. If you have anything regarding your hotel and such feel free to ask us anything. Freshen up then you can explore the tourist hub of Thamel which offers you the blend of local delicacies with a western fusion.

Stay at: Ramada Encore by Wyndham, Z-street, Thamel On your second day after having your breakfast you will be going on an English language guided sightseeing tour of the UNESCO world heritage sites within Kathmandu valley. The sightseeing journey will be conducted within the evening time of 4-5 PM which consists of ancient temples, Stupas, Palaces and many more. Afterwards, you will be dropped at your hotel then freshen up as you will be meeting with the Mountain Ram Adventures team as well as your group leader and guides who will give you a brief introduction about the trek as well as go through the essential items which we will provide you a list for beforehand for your trips well execution.   3. Swayambhunath Temple: Swayambhunath Temple better known as the Monkey temple by the visitors is an ancient stupa which is surrounded by temples and shrines on top of hill. The temple is also filled with monkeys who simultaneously live their life with locals of the area.
  4. Patan Durbar Square: Patan Durbar square is an integration of temples, courtyards and palaces which represents the cultural and historical lineage of Nepalese architecture built during the time of Malla kings around 14th century and used to serve as their royal residence. The durbar square consists of some of the most iconic temples of Nepal like Krishna Mandir built in Shikhar Style and Bhimsen Temple.

After having your breakfast you will be heading out for the airport for a helicopter flight to Lukla. Brace yourself as you will be flying over lush green hills with snow capped mountains in the back. The sights of the High Himalayas will surely motivate you for your trek. After landing at Lukla you will start your trek officially by trekking to Phakding which takes around 3-4 hours.

The trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar is an enjoyable journey as we will be trekking alongside the banks of Dudh Koshi surrounded by tall pine forest filled with mesmerizing sound of the Dudh Koshi river. We will be crossing the rivers multiple times via suspension bridges covered with prayer flags. After reaching the village of Monjo (2835m) we will be entering the Sagarmatha National Park so we will be required to register our permits. We will be ascending towards Namche Bazaar after crossing the Hillary suspension bridge. Namche Bazaar is also known as the gateway to Mount Everest and is one of the most beautiful villages nestled on an arch shaped mountain. If the weather favors you then you will be greeted with the sight of Mount Everest (8848 M) alongside Lhotse(8516 M), Nuptse(7861 M), Ama Dablam(6812 M), Kusum Khangru(6367 M), Kongde Ri(6187 M).

The 5th day of our trip will be spent in Namche Bazaar for acclimatization. We will be heading towards hotel Everest to witness the majestic mountains during sunrise and sunset. The day will be spent exploring the village of Namche Bazaar as it is the biggest settlement in the Khumbu region filled with hospitable sherpa people and other trekkers. The village is vibrant and filled with cafes, restaurants, Bakeries etc.

Note: ATM services are also available in the Namche Bazaar but it may be out of service so it's better to be prepared while in Kathmandu.

The trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche begins after having a proper nutritious breakfast. The journey to Tengboche is one scenic trek as the intimidating mountains of Ama Dablam, Lhotse and Everest will be prominently visible if the weather is clear. The trek takes us through the light Sherpa settlements of Sansa, Lawi Schyasa, Phungi Thenga all the way to Tengboche. We will be crossing the Dudh Koshi River at Phungi Thenga(3250 M) and it will be the last settlement which we cross before reaching Tengboche.

The 7th day of the trip is to look forward to as we will be descending through the dense forest of Rhododendron which if you travel during the spring season will turn the lush green forest to vibrant red with their distinct aromatics making the journey even more memorable and enjoyable. We will be passing through Deboche and Milingo before passing the Imja Khola suspension bridge then through Pangboche, Shomare, Worshyo finally to Dingboche. If you are lucky then you may see the natural inhabitants of the region including Blue sheep, Musk deer and the national bird of Nepal the Impeyan pheasant (Danfe). The mountains seen during the descending trail will also be a lot closer as well as you will see much more majestic peaks of Taboche Peak(6495M), Thamserku(6608M), Ama Dablam(6812M), Nupst(7861M ), Cholatse(6501M), and Mount Lhotse(8516M).

The 8th day of our trek will be spent on Dingboche where we will head towards a hike to the Narkang Hill which takes around 4-5 hours in total. The Narkang hill is quite steep and some trekkers also say that it is as difficult as the Kala Patthar Trek. The views from the top of the hill are quite rewarding as the intimidating snow capped mountains Lhotse, Lobuche, Nuptse, Kangtega, Ama Dabla and Cholatse can be seen in a panoramic view. The rest of the day is spent relaxing and making new friends with the locals and trekkers.

After spending a day in Dingboche we will be ascending towards Chukpi Lhara. Chukpi Lhara is a memorial site filled with stones covered with the prayers flags which are dedicated to summiters who have lost their life during summiting the mountains including American mountaineer Scott Fischer and Nepali mountaineer BabuChiri Sherpa who is famous for summiting Mount Everest 10 times. The views seen during the Trek to Lobuche are mesmerizing as we will be witnessing the views of the Khumbutse(6639 M), Mount Lingste(6749 M), Mount Pumori(7161 M) and mount Mahalangur. We will be passing the Lateral Moraine of the Khumbu glacier as well. You may face slight problems while breathing due to the altitude of Lobuche (4910M). We will be spending our night at Lobuche on the 9th day of our trek.

The trek from Lobuche will begin after having a nutritious breakfast as we will be heading towards the Everest Base camp via Gorak shep which is the final settlement of the Everest Base camp trail. The trek will be especially challenging in comparison to your previous treks as the high altitude will be challenging. From the base camp we can witness the 360 degree panoramic view of the snow capped mountains. However we cannot see the peak of Mount Everest itself from the base camp but can enjoy the views of other iconic Mountains like Nuptse, Pumori, Changste and Lhotse. Enjoy the view of the mighty mountains as the trek's furthest destination has been reached. We will be heading back to Gorak Shep for our night and will be the highest point of stay during our trek at an elevation of 5140 M.

On our 11 th day we will be heading to the highest elevation of our trek, the Kala Patthar early morning to witness the sun rise on the mighty mountains of the Mahalangur peaks as they are visible in a panoramic scene. The Kala patthar offers the most magnificent view of Everest as well as the surrounding peaks. After soaking in the views of the majestic peaks of the Himalayas we will be starting our journey back. After having our lunch at Gorak Shep we will begin our descent to Pheriche.

The descending trek from Pheriche to Namche Bazar will be the longest trek which takes us through the same route passing through Tengboche Monastery and Pangboche leading all the way through the dense rhododendron forest to Namche Bazaar. We will be taking stops along the way to enjoy the views of the mountains as the trekking expedition is almost over. We will be spending the night at Namche Bazar.

The trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla will be the last days of our trek as we will be descending down a steep path. The trekkers are advised to walk slowly as we descend down to the Hilary Suspension Bridge after which the paths are not that harsh. Enjoy and relish every moment of the trip as we pass through the dense forest alongside the Dudh Koshi river and also pass the village of Monjo and Phakding eventually reaching the final destination of our trek at Lukla where we will be spending the Night.

The trek is finally completed as we will be heading towards Kathmandu on a scenic helicopter flight from Lukla. Upon your arrival at Kathmandu we will be transferring you to your Hotel and you can freshen up and explore the local markets of Thamel and other beautiful touristic sites within the Kathmandu valley.

At the evening time we will be organizing a complimentary farewell dinner as you have been introduced as a new and valuable member of the Mountain Adventures Team. We will be providing a certificate of competition as it is a huge achievement to reach the base camp of the Mighty Everest.

As your trip to the Everest Base Camp is completed we will be dropping you to the airport after assisting you with your checkout and your luggages. We will be transferring you to the Tribhuvan International Airport in a private car. We request you to provide us with honest feedback about your trip as it helps us grow in a positive way. Taking a total of 15 days to complete the whole journey.

Yes you are requested to carry a certain sum of money ranging from 100 USD to 200 USD incase of any emergencies which might cause an addition of days or two during your trip as well as the trip does not cover your personal expenses we suggest you to carry certain money in addition to the emergency fund at around 10-20 USD per day.

The Everest Base Camp Trek takes us through the heart of the UNESCO world heritage site Sagarmatha National Park which serves as the natural habitat for almost 118 species of birds as well as various animals. During the trek you may spot some of the Magnificent animals and birds of the region including the likes of Impeyan Pheasant(Danfe), Snow Cock, Blood Pheasant, Himalayan Tahr, Himalayan Black Bear, Musk Deer and many more. If you are lucky you can spot some rare animals such as the Red Panda, wild Yaks and even Snow Leopards. We suggest you bring binoculars if you are into birdwatching.

Although the Everest base camp trek can be completed in every season, the best season to trek in the Everest region is during the Autumn season (September- November) and Spring season (March-May). During the two seasons the weather is quite pleasant and the weather does not fluctuate much. Even in the off season the trek is possible but the risk is tremendously high due to certain change in weather and climate.

The ATMs are available up to Namche Bazaar but the ATMs over there are not reliable to work so it is better to be prepared in Kathmandu. The ATM charges an additional 2-4% varying on the bank as bank fees. We suggest you withdraw for personal expenses as well as for any emergency situation which may lead us to extend our stay by one or two days.

Yes, there is a risk of Altitude sickness as we will be trekking to an altitude of 5644M (highest elevation during the trek) but you need not to worry as you will be alongside guides and porters who have proper training, knowledge and medical equipment required during an emergency.

The solo trek to Everest base camp is possible but you are required to travel alongside a Licensed guide while trekking to the Everest Base camp. Our guides and porters here at the Mountain Ram Adventures team are well qualified and skilled who can assist you with everything while trekking to the Everest Base camp trek.

The permits required for trekking to Everest Base camp are the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Municipality entry permit and the Sagarmatha National park permit. You don't need to worry about your permits as we will be providing you with your necessary permits while trekking in the Everest Base camp to make your travel hassle free and enjoyable.

Yes, licensed guides and porters are mandatory for your trek to the Everest Base camp as per the instruction of the Government of Nepal. To obtain the Visa for Nepal it is rather easy as you can get the visa from the Embassy of Nepal or the consultant office of Nepal in your respectives nations. There is also a provision for citizens of certain countries who are eligible for a visa on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport to check whether or not you are eligible. Yes you can complete Everest Base Camp as your first trek if you are physically fit with a drive to complete the trek to the base camp. You will be assisted by guides and porters throughout your trek. The guides and porters are well versed with the routes and terrains which will greatly benefit you to complete the trek to the base camp.

There are no restrictions for any age group and can be done by anyone who is fit and healthy. The trek is a strenuous one as we will be trekking through the heart of the Himalayas and we suggest you do a medical checkup before traveling to ensure you are fit for the trek.

You can store your baggage in your hotel at Kathmandu or you can store your bags at the office of the Mountain Ram Adventures teams office for free. You can leave your baggage safely with us and collect it after returning to Kathmandu.

For most of the Trips we will be staying in Lodges. During your Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek you will be staying in the best possible accommodation with the best service available in the trek routes. If you are not satisfied with the accommodation arrangements we request you to inform us as soon as possible so that we can make necessary arrangements as best as we can.

Yes the foods available in the trek are palatable. The trek is vigorous and requires a lot of energy due to which the foods available in the route are highly nutritious and palatable. The accommodations and tea houses along the routes are well established and they serve varieties of food options including toast, potatoes, eggs, tea during breakfast, prominently Daal bhat during lunch and dinner and varieties of snack items such as Dumplings, noodles, soup/ stews, curries and much more. Incase of any allergies or medical issues you are requested to inform your group leaders and guides so that they can change the option for your safety and comfort.

*Note: We suggest you eat vegetable items during your trek at higher altitude as meat products available in the higher altitude are frozen which might cause indigestion which might cause health issues.

Yes, hot showers are available in the trek but it cannot be guaranteed as the hot waters available in the route are available through the solar powered panels so if the weather is cloudy for a day or two then the hot showers are not available. The hot shower facility is a luxury product at the high Himalayas due to which it is a paid service but is included in the itinerary. We suggest you be cautious and take a shower if you deem it to be absolutely necessary as your health might be at risk due to the altitude and climate of the high Himalayas.

Yes, you can charge your electronic devices up till Gorak Shep (not available in Everest base camp). The charging facilities available are solar powered so the speed of the charging might be relatively slow and the cost for charging the electronic devices are also included in the treks itinerary provided by the Mountain Ram Adventures.

The Everest base camp is a relatively safe trek with minimum risk of avalanches and landslides that doesn't mean the threat is not there but if you are assisted by a skilled guide and group leader then you will be on a much safer side. The risk of landslides and avalanche is at the peak during the “off season” which falls in the months of December, January, February, June, July and August. The off-season trek in the High Himalayas in Nepal is especially challenging and much more risky so we suggest you to travel during the other remaining six months during which the weather is pleasant and predictable.

The restrictions to travel to Nepal is completely lifted and the trekkers can also get visa on arrival (for citizens of certain countries) at the Tribhuvan International airport but we suggest you to check the rules and policies of the transit countries and you're airlines as well in order to experience a hassle free travel to Nepal.

The trekking route takes us through the heart of the Himalayas to the base camp of Mount Everest. The altitude of some of the destinations are well above 5000 M which might cause health problems. If any health concern arises then the skilled and medically trained guides and Group leaders who are equipped with medical supplies will firstly check your oxygen level with an Oximeter and then assist you to mitigate the problems and if the health starts further deteriorating then we will be transferring you to Kathmandu for treatment through any means necessary.

With the experienced and skilled guides and porters assigned to you by the Mountain Ram Adventures team the success rate of reaching the base camp is quite high. The success rate to reach the Everest Base camp also depends upon the physicality and mentality of the trekkers themselves.

The flight to Lukla is safe even though the runway is one of the shortest in the world and is located at a cliff side. The flight to Lukla offers one of the best views of the Eastern Himalayas of Nepal. You will be passing through high mountains and hills which might cause some air turbulence but the flight is safe and secure. The flight gets you usually pumped up with the glorious views and thrill and is one great way to start and end your trekking journey.

We will be having a helicopter flight from and to Lukla rather than commercial flights which is even more safe while offering the same spectacular views of the himalayas.

Yes the trek is completely possible as there are various highly nutritious vegetarian foods available in the route as well as we suggest the non vegetarians as well to consume less or even no meat at higher altitudes as the meats available are frozen which might cause indigestion leading to health complications during trekking.

The Oxygen level at Everest Base camp and Kala Patthar is around 50% whereas the Oxygen level at Lukla, the starting point of the trek, is 68% and Kathmandu is 97%. The oxygen level at the base camp may cause problems like feeling light headed which is normal but make sure to inform this to your guide and porters.

Yes, the drinking waters are available in the routes at rest points and settlements throughout the routes. We suggest you not to drink the water directly from the streams or water bodies and only consume it after using filtration tablets or any other filtration process as you might get sick and require medical attention.

The average speed per hour is around 3-4 KM and the average distance needed to cover during the trek is around 13- 15 KM per day. As we start to ascend to the higher elevation you should walk at your own pace as rapid elevation gain can also lead to altitude sickness.

The Everest base camp trek route is filled with scattered Sherpa settlements. The lodges and tea houses up to Namche Bazaar have the western style toilets and after Namche Bazar most of the settlements have squat toilets.

Itinerary disclaimer

The 15 days itinerary of the luxury Everest Base Camp is usually fixed and we tend to stick to the itinerary but if you want any reasonable changes made to the itinerary then we will be more than happy to accommodate for your comfort. There can be some changes made in the itinerary caused by any sudden disturbance like political reasons, weather and natural calamities. We will be relaying the information to you about the change in itinerary and make the best decisions by consulting with the experts at the Mountain Ram Adventures team.

Airport Pickup and Drop

The members of the Mountain Ram Adventures will be waiting for your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport and will be picking you up from the airport and transferring to your hotel while helping with your baggage and also will be dropping you to the airport for your flight after completing your trek to the Everest Base camp.

*Note: Any detours during your transfer from and to the Tribhuvan international Airport will not be included in the package and will cost additional charges.

Safety and security concerns        

The itinerary for the Luxury Everest trek is designed in such a way that the trekkers get enough rest as well as get enough time to acclimatize with the high altitude as most of the settlements and points are well above 3500 M+. The question of safety and security concerns while trekking in the harsh terrain and weather condition is valid which may cause stress for the trekkers to ensure that you have a hassle free and comfortable journey. Our skilled guides and porters will be present with you during each step ensuring your safety. The routes to the Everest Base Camp are well established and there are not many security concerns during the trek and even if some unprecedented problem arises then our guides and porters will try their best to mitigate them.

Minimum age

There is no such an age requirement while trekking to the Everest Base camp but the trekkers are requested to inform of any health related complication before trekking to the Everest base camp as it is a strenuous trek so we can make necessary arrangements. The trekkers should be mentally and physically fit to tackle the harsh conditions of the Mighty Himalayas. The trek can be completed by anyone as recently a 2 years old boy from Scotland had reached the Everest base camp with the assistance of his parents.

*Note: Minors below the age of 16 should be accompanied by their guardian inorder to participate in the Luxury Everest Base Camp trek.   

Solo Trekkers

You are not permitted to trek solo in the Everest Base camp as per the rules issued by the Government of Nepal and the Nepal tourism board. You are required to be assisted by a guide while trekking to the Everest Base Camp due to the spike in fatality of solo trekkers over recent years.

The guides and porters assigned to you by the Mountain Ram Adventures team are well skilled and knowledgeable about the region as a whole. If you want to meet new people and travel in a group then you can join a group heading towards the base camp.

Total cost

The total cost of the Luxury Everest base camp in 2025 varies from one to another service providers but here at the Mountain Ram Adventures we provide you with the best services and facilities which are reasonable and value for your money. You can check what are included and what are not in the cost details at the same web page. 

The additional charges which might incur during your trek like personal expenses as well as emergency funds are not included in the packages which are essential for your entertainment and safety and we request you to carry a certain sum in NPR (Nepalese currency) with you during your trek.

Accommodation available during the Everest base camp

The Accommodations available in the routes to the Everest Base Camp trek are usually lodges and we will be providing you with the best possible one. The rooms available in the trek will be twin sharing rooms having a comfortable mattress and blankets/ Quilts for a good night sleep. When possible you will be guaranteed to also have a personal washroom.

The lodge also has a dining area where the foods are served and is usually warm by the furnace. The common area is where you interact with other trekkers and local sherpas who operate the tea houses and lodges in the route .

*Note: If you are a solo traveler then you can request for a single bed before your trek so that we can make necessary arrangements accordingly. The single rooms cannot be always guaranteed and usually depends on the flow of trekkers.

Foods available in the Everest Base camp trek

As the Everest Base camp trek is visited by many trekkers the trekking routes are well established and there are various options of meals available in the route. Most of the lodges provide you with palatable food which will fill you up and is nutritions. The cuisine ranges from Nepali, Indian, Tibetan and somewhat western cuisine fusion as well.

The most prominent one is Dal Bhat which is perfect for the trekkers as it is flavorful as well as gives you enough energy for the trek. Hot waters are also available in the lodges.

*Note: Don't drink water from the streams directly and use filters or fill the water bottles from the hotels so that you don't get sick.

Flights to Lukla, the starting point of the Everest Base Camp Trek

The flight to Lukla is one beautiful flight which offers one the most beautiful scenic views of the high snow capped mountains of the Himalayas. Lukla airport is considered as one of the most dangerous airports due to it being on a cliff side at an altitude of 2860 M as well as having one of the smallest runways. Even though the location of the airport is concerning, the flights to Lukla are safe.

  1. Helicopter flight to Lukla from Kathmandu
    According to the itinerary of Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek we will be taking a majestic helicopter ride from and to Lukla where the flights are safer and even more beautiful. The helicopter ride is around 40 minutes long providing a panoramic view of the green lush hills as well as the Great Himalayan Trail.
  2. Kathmandu to Lukla
    Lukla is the starting point of the Luxury Everest Base Camp trek. The flight from Kathmandu to Lukla is around 35 minutes (138 KM) providing one of the most spectacular views of the Eastern High Himalayas of Nepal.
  3. Manthali airport, Ramechap  to Lukla
    During the peak season or High traffic time the flights from Kathmandu to Lukla might not be possible. So the alternative option is the flight from Manthali airport to Lukla. The Manthali airport is around 4-5 hours drive from Kathmandu from where the flight time decreases to just 20 minutes but still provides spectacular views of the Himalayas.
  4. Hiking to Lukla from Kathmandu
    If you don't want to fly to Lukla then the option is to drive to Jiri or Phaplu where the hike begins to Lukla to continue towards the Everest Base Camp. It's up to you to decide how you want to start the journey but make sure to relay the message to us so that we can make necessary arrangements accordingly. 

Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek Permits.

The luxury Everest Base Camp Trek takes us through the heart of Sagarmatha National Park so we are required to have permits for the trek. There are two permits required for the Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek which are the:

    1. Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Permit
    2. Sagarmatha National Park Permit

The TIMS card (Trekking Information Management System) is not required for the Everest Base camp trek as it was replaced by the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Municipality Permit. The permits required for the trek are prepared in advance by the team members of the Mountain Ram Adventures before the trek begins and the rates are inclusive in the package cost.

Blisters prevention

The blisters can cause huge trouble while trekking as it makes the trek unbearable and painful. So, in order to avoid the problem of blisters wear well fitted trekking shoes which come up to the ankle if possible as it also avoids twisting of ankles. Also ask for tips  regarding the techniques for trekking to prevent the blisters with the guides.  

Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek difficulty

The Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek is a moderate one as the trekking trails are not that strenuous but are filled with rugged paths. You will also be walking for an average of 7-8 hours per day but the views the trek offers motivates us to push through making it much more easy. You will be assisted by your guides and Group leaders who will make your journey comfortable and enjoyable. Having past trekking experience also makes this trek much easier but the past experience is not mandatory and is doable by beginners as well.  The main concern for the trek will be your physical and mental fitness as you need to be prepared for the harsh conditions.

Best time to trek Everest Base Camp Trek

The Everest base camp is in the bucket list of many trekking enthusiasts and travelers. The trek offers spectacular views of the Mahalangur Himalayas. The weather at the high himalayas can be unpredictable and harsh due to which the trekking routes can be much more challenging inorder to have a best trekking experience the timeframe to trek must be understood. The best season for trekking is during the Spring season and Autumn season

    1. Everest Base Camp during Spring Season:
      The spring season in Nepal begins in March and ends in May during which the weather is pleasant and the temperature is stable. During the spring season the trails are filled with Rhododendron which turns the lush green trails into vibrant red with aromatic smell filling the routes.
      Temperature as high as: 17 degrees celsius to 25 degrees celsius
      Temperature as low as:-15 degrees celsius

    2. Everest Base Camp during Autumn season:
      The months of September, October and November fall under the Autumn season of Nepal which is considered to be the best season to trek in Nepal. During the Autumn season the weather is much more preferable and does not fluctuate much. The skies are crystal clear making the beautiful snow capped mountains much more visible. If you are planning to trek during the Autumn season then plan the trip in advance as the routes would be filled with trekkers.
      Temperature as high as: 12 degrees celsius to 16 degrees celsius
      Temperature as low as: 5 degrees celsius to -14 degrees celsius 

    3. Everest Base camp during Winter season
      The trek to the base camp during the months of December, January and February is doable but the weather conditions are extreme causing different hardship and making the trail even more difficult. The day time during the trek is somewhat bearable but during the night time and early morning the weather is punishable. During the winter time with proper equipment and preparations you can enjoy the Khumbu region which turns into a winter wonderland making the trails and mighty mountains even more beautiful.
      Temperature as high as: 10 degrees celsius to 16 degrees celsius
      Temperature as low as: -20 degrees celsius

    4. Everest Base Camp during Summer/ Monsoon season
      The monsoon and summer season in Nepal is experienced at the same time during the months of June, July and August. The summer season is not suitable for trekking as the weather during this time is very unpredictable as well as skies are covered with clouds making the trek gloomy as well as obstructing the views of the mountains. The risk of landslides, thunderstorms are also at its peak during the monsoon season.  The trekking trail during the monsoon season is muddy and slippery.
      Temperature as high as: 22 degrees celsius to 5 degrees celsius
      Temperature as low as: - 5 degrees celsius

Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek Tips

    1. Internet: The Internet facility is available in the routes to Everest base camp but the signals will fluctuate and be slow. The hotels provide wifi service which will have additional charges which are covered by the Mountain Ram Adventures team. It is better to have one of the Nepali sims of either NTC or NCell  and use the cellular data by purchasing a pack as it will work during the routes as well. The cellular data works relatively better than the hotel's Internet.

    2. Hot Shower: Hot showers are available during the trek routes but the weather conditions play a huge part in its availability as the hot water is available by solar powered panels. The charges of hot showers are also included in the package provided by the Mountain Ram Adventures. We suggest you to not take a shower until it is absolutely essential as even with a hot shower you might fall ill during your trip.

    3. Charging: the charging ports are available till Gorak Shep and can be considered a luxury product in the Himalayas as it is powered by solar the speed might be slower in comparison to regular ports. The facility of charging also costs a certain sum of money per device and is covered by the Mountain Ram Adventures team.

    4. ATM: The ATM services are available till Namche Bazaar but it's better to be prepared in Kathmandu as the ATMs in Namche Bazaar might not work. You are requested to withdraw for your personal expenses and emergency fund. You should carry the Nepalese currency as they usually only accept it in Khumbu regions.

      *Note: The ATMs charge around 2-4% (depending on the bank) extra as bank fees while withdrawing. 

    5. Luggage: The weight Limit for the duffle bag carried by the porter is 10 KG per person and a porter is assigned with 2 duffle bags (total 20 KG). The day bag carried by the trekkers should not exceed 5 KG. The extra luggages can be stored safely in the hotel at Kathmandu or the office of Mountain Ram Adventures.

    6. Snacks and Protein bars: The Everest Base Camp trek is a long journey which takes a lot of hiking through rugged terrains and dense forest. During the trek it is better if we carry some protein or granola bars which will replenish our energy. Please dispose of the wrappers in the proper way as the conservation of the National park is the visitors responsibility as well.   

Guides and Porters during Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek:

 We, the Mountain Ram Adventures team will be assigning your group with guides and porters who are knowledgeable about the terrain and weather of the Khumbu regions as well as having numerous years of trekking experience. The guides and porters assigned for you are the members of the Mountain Ram Adventures family so we request you to treat them with respect and love. The guide and porters make your trek enjoyable and more relaxed as they are there to assist you during your trek and are also medically certified to assist you in case of any emergencies. Incase of any discomfort make sure to ask for your guides and porters assistance.

Tipping the Guides and porters:

Even though tipping is not mandatory. The trekkers show appreciation towards their Guides and porters by providing tips as they have made the journey relaxed and hassle free for you. The amount of the tips can also depend upon the service and satisfaction the trekkers receive.

Insurance for the Everest Base Camp:

Insurance for the Everest Base camp is not mandatory but as the saying goes “prevention is better than cure”. The insurance might come in handy in cases of any kind of emergencies which significantly reduces the cost of any unseen expenses. The high himalayan weather can change drastically within a short time frame so even though the insurance is not compulsory the trekkers are requested to have travel insurance for their own safety as the insurance also helps the guides and porters make decisions without any hesitation.

Risk during Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek:  

The main risk during the Everest Base camp trek is related to altitude sickness. As we will be trekking at points well above 5000M the risks of getting ill is high. There are also slight chances of earthquake, landslide and Avalanches but they don't oppose any kind of threat to the trekkers.

    1. Indigestion Problems during the Everest Base Camp trek: the treks in the high himalayas might turn into a disaster if the consumed food and water upsets the tummy. Always ensure that you are consuming healthy and reasonable foods as well as drinking clear water. Don't drink water directly from the stream or tap.

    2. Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) during Everest Base Camp trekking: As we ascend to higher altitude the atmospheric pressure and oxygen level decreases due to which you might face some of the symptoms of Altitude sickness like dizziness, shortness of breath, headache, loss of appetite, imbalance of body coordination etc.

 Inorder to tackle most of the illness regarding the altitude sickness the itinerary developed by Mountain Ram Adventures ensures that the trekkers gets two days for acclimatize ( in Namche Bazaar and Dingboche).

  1. Ways to prevent acute mountain sickness
    1. Eat proper and balance healthy foods.
    2. Drink plenty of water each day (at least 3-4 liters a day)
    3. Avoid Alcohol and cigarettes
    4. Walk at a slower pace
    5. Don’t gain more that 500M elevation in a day
    6. Share any discomforts with your guides and porters
    7. Listen to your body and don't overdo it.

Visa and Entry requirement:

In order to obtain a visa for Nepal you can go to the Embassy of Nepal or the consultant office of Nepal in your own country. The provision of visa on arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport for citizens of certain countries is also done. You can check whether you are eligible for a visa on arrival on the official website of the Department of Immigration, Nepal.

Laundry:

The Luxury Everest Base Camp trek is a 15 day long journey through the harsh climate so the trekkers are required to pack accordingly. The laundry services are available on the route till Namche Bazaar. So you need to carry clothes to last for the entire trip accordingly. We will be providing you with the list of essential clothes which you are required to bring for your comfort and warmth.

Money Exchange:

In the high Himalayas the payment can only be done through cash for personal expenses, tips to guides and porters and many more. For this you need to exchange Nepalese currency from money exchange at the airport, banks, money exchange centers in Thamel or Namche Bazaar. Be sure to check the exchange rate beforehand to get the best possible rate for your benefit.

Emergency Funds:

The harsh nature of the Khumbu region can be punishing at times. The trekkers are suggested to carry at least 100-300 USD as emergency funds as there might be some unseen events which might lead to extension of our trip or any uncertain cases. The emergency fund is like a safety net to lean on if any uncertain events arise.

Ethics to respect the Nepalese culture and tradition

  1. During introduction, start by saying Namaste with a slight bow of your upper body while joining your hands in a prayer position (keep your hands near your chest).
  2. Always take off your shoes while visiting temples, shrines or anyone’s house.
  3. Dress Modestly.
  4. In the Nepalese culture it is frowned upon to show public display of affection as it is considered a private matter.
  5. While visiting a temple, shrines or stupas always go around them in a clockwise direction.
  6. Always address the vendors or locals as “dai” or “didi”. “Dai” means brother and “Didi” means sister.
  7. Always use your right hand while receiving and giving anything.
  8. Do not point at anyone or anything with your feet as the feets are considered the lowest part of the body.
  9. Do not touch any religious objects or statues.
  10. Always look for boards and signs for places where the tourists are allowed entry or not.

when you are packing for the trekking be sure to cover all aspects by packing all the essentials like proper gear, warm clothes, snacks, personal kit, medical kits, electronic devices and others. The Mountain Ram Adventures team will provide you with the shortlist of essentials and will also be going through the items before starting the trek to ensure you are good to go on the adventure of a lifetime.

  1. Essentials: waterproof track and jacket,  Lightweight and warm down jacket, trekking t-shirt (3-4), lightweight trekking tracks, trekking/ Hiking shoes, Warm and protective gloves, Thermal wear top and bottom ( 1/ 2), trekking socks(3-4), Light socks for day time (4-5), Spare underwears, Sun hat/ cap, woolen hat, scarf, windbreaker.
  2. Personal Kit: Sanitizers, wet wipes, Toothbrush and toothpaste, shampoo, comb, sunscreen, cold cream, lip balm, sun glasses.
  3. Personal medical Kit: Prescribed medicines (if any), band-aid,  cotton, antiseptic cream, paracetamol, Vomistop, Antifungal Cream, insect repellent.
  4. Electronic Gadget: spare batteries, power bank, head lamp, cameras, charger.
