Yala Peak Climbing is an adrenaline filled, yet comfortable climb offering trekkers captivating views of the Himalayan and glacier valleys. Yala Peak is becoming one of the go to destinations among the trekking enthusiasts as it challenges the trekkers limit through its rugged and steep terrains. The climb is a non technical one and is considered to be the lowest Peak climbing in the Himalayas of Nepal taking us to an altitude of 5500 M. The trekkers can witness the majestic views of the high Himalayas including Shishapangma (8027M), Dorje Lakpa(6966M), Ganchenpo(6378M), Naya Kang(5844M), Tserko Ri(4984M) , Langtang Lirung(7234M) and many more peaks in a 360 degrees panoramic view.
The trail of the Yala Peak climbing takes us through the beautiful settlement of the Tamang community who operate the accommodations along the route providing a golden opportunity for the trekkers to indulge in the authentic culture of the locals as well. The trek begins through the lush green forests of the lower Langtang regions taking us to the harsh rocky terrains which leads to the Yala Peak's Summit. The trek takes us through the core of the Langtang National Park where the trekkers have a slightly high chance of encountering native flora and fauna of the region including rare elusive species such as the Snow Leopard, Red Panda, Himalayan Musk Deer, Himalayan Black Bear, Serow and many more. Langtang National Park is also a paradise for bird watchers as there are more than 250 species of birds found including rare species such as Whited-Rumped Vulture, Himalayan Monal, Whistling Hawk Cuckoo and many more.

Welcome to the Capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu from where the clients will be starting their Yala peak climbing with the Mountain Ram Adventures Team. Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport you will be welcomed by the representatives of the team who will be assisting with your luggages and transferring you to your assigned hotel in the touristic area of Thamel. The clients can freshen up and explore the Thamel area which is catered towards servicing the tourists with local and international amenities.
After a goodnight sleep, the clients will be heading for a sightseeing tour of four of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites within the valley of Kathmandu. Kathmandu Valley has been serving as the pivotal point of Nepalese culture for centuries and houses some of the most iconic landmarks which reflect the culture and traditions of Nepal. The sightseeing tour will begin after having our breakfast and will end at around 4 PM. The clients will be accompanied by an English speaking cultural guide for the sightseeing trip who will be sharing all the information and stories related to the monuments. To enter the UNESCO World Heritage site the clients need to pay entry fees which are not covered by the Mountain Ram Adventures Team. After completing the sightseeing tour the clients will be dropped at their hotel after which they will be meeting with the representatives of the Mountain Ram Adventures team to discuss our upcoming adventure.
Highlights of the Sightseeing Tour
Swayambhunath
Swayambhunath Stupa is located in the western part of Kathmandu valley on top of the Gopuchha Hill at an altitude of around 300 feet. It is one of the most revered sites for the Budhhist and Hindu community serving as one of the most pristine sites for more than 1600 years. The Stupa can only be accessed by the visitors after climbing a flight of 365 steps. The Swayambhunath stupa is believed to have emerged from a Lotus flower when the valley of Kathmandu was filled with water. The name "Swayambhu" means "Self-Created" as there was an eternal self existing flame over which the stupa was later built. The Stupa is built in a dome shape and is surrounded by many shrines and temples and offers stunning views of the Kathmandu Valley with the glimpses of the High Himalayas when the weather is clear.
Pashupatinath Temple
Pashupatinath Temple is one of the most revered sites of the Hindu community dedicated to Lord Shiva, the God of Destruction and is visited by thousands of devotees every year for blessings. According to a local chronicle, the Pashupatinath Temple is believed to have been constructed by Pashu Prekshya of the Somadeva Dynasty (around 205 CE) 2300 years ago. The temple's roof was gilded in a renovation project by Ananta Malla (1274-1307 AD). The Temple was heavily damaged by natural calamities and has not seen any damages after the renovation done by King Bhupalendra Malla in 1697 AD. The temple is located beside the holy Bagmati River and the banks of the river serves as one of the biggest open cremation sites of the Hindu community as it is believed that devotees who are cremated there find their way to their next life easily.
Boudhanath Stupa
Boudhanath Stupa built in a Ashokan Style dome shape is around 36 M tall and is said to be built during the Lichhavi period(450 CE- 750 CE). The Stupa is also known as Khastri/ Khasa and Jarungkhasor in Tibetan Language. The Boudhanath Stupa has served as one of the pivotal sites for the Buddhist community. The Boudhanath Stupa falls in the ancient route which connected Tibet with Kathmandu valley and was used for trading. Even though located just 6 KM North-East from the center of Kathmandu the stupa offers a serene experience away from the hustle and bustle of the settlement.
Patan Durbar Square
Patan Durbar Square was the administrative head and the residence of the royals of the Malla kingdom until the death of Yakha Malla after which the valley was divided into three kingdoms: Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Patan. Patan Durbar Square consists of some of the most iconic landmarks including Palaces, Temples, Shrines, Hitis and Courtyards. Patan Durbar Square reflects the cultural and architectural prowess of the Nepalese community during the ancient times. The travelers can enjoy various local meals of the Newari cuisine from the local vendors settled around the Durbar Square area.
On our third day of the trip we will be heading to Syabrubesi which is situated inside the Langtang National Park in the Rasuwa district which is around 115 KM from North of Kathmandu. We will be traveling via a comfortable 4WD vehicle through twisting and winding roads. The journey will be around 6 hours filled with scenic views of the High Himalayas and the Trisuli river valley. We will be stopping in settlements for a bit to stretch our legs and enjoy the scenic vista. At around noon we will reach Syabrubesi which is termed as The Gateway To Langtang Region. We will be staying in Syabrubesi for the night in a local tea house/ Guest house operated by the accommodating locals.
As we have rested well in the cozy Tea House we will be heading towards Lama Hotel which is around 12 KM from Syabrubesi and takes around 6 hours in total. The trek will begin as we will cross the Trisuli river which flows from the holy Gosainkunda Lake, after crossing Trisuli we will trek alongside the Langtang Khola. We will cross through picturesque landscapes filled with the serene sounds of the river passing through Bamboo, Tatopani and Rimche. After a blissful day of trekking through the shades of lush green forest we will reach Lama hotel where we will be staying for the night.
The trek from Lama hotel begins after we have a nutritious and healthy breakfast which will fuel us for the trek. We will be heading towards the Langtang Village which is at an altitude of 3360 M. On our way to Langtang Village we will be passing through rugged terrains as the routes at some places were destroyed by the 2015 AD earthquake. The route will take us through Ghoda Tabela and Thangshyap from where we will be crossing a massive landslide zone where there used to be the old Langtang Village which was completely swept away by a landslide brought by the devastating earthquake of 2015 AD. After trekking for 6 hours covering a total distance of around 15.1 KM we will reach Langtang village where we will be staying for the night.
After enjoying the views of the majestic peaks of the Langtang valley we will be heading towards Kyanjin Gompa which is situated at an altitude of 3800M. The trek from Langtang Village will take us around 3-4 hours where we will be gaining altitude of around 500M. We will be crossing the glacier stream which flows from the mighty Langtang Lirung which is the highest mountain of the Langtang Himalayan Range at an altitude of 7234 M. We will be trekking through the alpine tundra through off beaten rugged trails which will eventually lead us to Kenjin Gompa where we will be spending our night mixing with the locals and enjoying the mesmerizing views of the Himalayan Range.
On our 7th day of the trip we will be exploring the Kyanjin Gompa region enjoying the views while interacting with the locals and trekkers alike. We will be hiking up to a nearby hill for acclimatization for our upcoming ascend towards the Yala Peak. After enjoying our hike for acclimatization we will be heading back towards Kyanjin Gompa where we will be resting for the day and just relaxing enjoying the stellar views of the region.
After having a much deserved rest day for acclimatization in Kyanjin Gompa we will head towards Yala Peak Base camp. We will trek towards Kyanjin Kharka where we will be resting for a bit and moving forward through plain rugged terrains of the Langtang Khola after crossing the glacier moraine we will be ascending upwards. There is a board marking the trail towards Cherkuri which we will be taking and after a short ascent the trail of Yala peak base camp and Cherkuri separates and we will trek along the rugged cliffside trail. After trekking alongside the trail we will cross a small glacier stream flowing from the peak of Cherkuri. After trekking through rugged yet comfortable inclines we will reach Yala Kharka from where we will head up towards Yala Base Camp. At the base camp we will be settling camp near the water source which will be beneficial for us. We will set up our camp for the night and have a nutritious meal prepared by the team members after which we will be having a good night sleep at an elevation of around 4600M.
Note:The trekkers can take essentials only and leave their non essentials, extra gears, and dirty clothes in Kyanjin Gompa as we will be returning back after climbing to the summit of Yala Peak.
The day has finally arrived as we will summit the Yala Peak which is at an elevation of 5500M. We will have a very early breakfast before dawn and head towards the Yala peak. The trail is steep, inclined and rugged. The trekkers are suggested to climb according to their own pace enjoying the challenging trail and stunning views of the Himalayas. If the trekkers get confused about the trail then they can look for stone Cairns(Stacked stones on top of each other). After trekking through challenging trails we will eventually reach Yala Peak which is filled with prayer flags hung by the previous summiters. After enjoying the 360 degrees panoramic views of the Himalayas of Nepal and some peaks of Tibet, we will be heading back to our campsite. After packing our campsites and cleaning up we will head down through the same nostalgic route filled with a sense of accomplishment leading us towards Kyanjin Gompa. We will be staying in Kyanjin Gompa for the night in a cozy tea house.
The Mountain Ram Adventures team has planned the Yala Peak Climbing package with all the possibilities in mind and have included a spare day just in case the weather is not suitable for the challenging trek to the summit. In this case we will be spending an extra day at the Yala Peak base camp and there is no need to worry as the team will be equipped with essentials for meal preps just in case. During these circumstances the trekkers can explore the region soaking in the views for an additional day which will also help a lot for acclimatization making it easier for the upcoming summit to the Yala Peak.
As we have summited the Yala Peak we will be returning back through the same beautiful trail leading us towards Lama Hotel. We will be passing through the lush ancient rhododendron forest filled with the sound of the Langtang Khola and the unique sound of the faunas. The trekkers can spot some wildlife during their hike down including elusive species like Musk deers, Red Pandas, Himalayan Black Bear and many more if they are lucky. After hiking for around 6 hours we will reach Lama Hotel where we will be spending our night enjoying with the locals and travelers.
After enjoying a hearty breakfast at Lama Hotel we will head down towards Syabrubesi which will be around 6 hours where we will be enjoying the landscapes savoring every moment of the trek. The trek from Lama hotel to Syabrubesi will be the last part of our trek. We will be crossing through Tatopani, Rimche and Bamboo and finally the Trisuli river which will lead us to Syabrubesi. The trekkers can explore the small city of Syabrubesi for a bit as we will be heading back towards Kathmandu. We will be staying in Syabrubesi for the night in a cozy Tea House.
As our Yala Peak Climbing is successful we will be heading back towards Kathmandu in a comfortable 4WD vehicle through the same twisting and winding roads. We will be passing through beautiful villages like Dhunche, Thade and many more eventually leading us to Galchi, after which we will be turning left which will eventually lead us to Kathmandu via Naubise. After entering Kathmandu, the team will be dropping the clients in their respective hotel and the team who assisted you during the trek will bid you farewell. The clients can unwind for a bit and freshen up and explore the city for a bit as afterwards the Mountain Ram Adventures Team will be hosting a complimentary farewell dinner where the team will provide the trekkers with a certificate of recognition for successfully summiting the Yala Peak.
As the client's Yala Peak Climbing tour with the Mountain Ram Adventures team is finally completed the team members of the Mountain Ram Adventures will be arriving at your hotel to transfer you to the Tribhuvan International Airport’s International terminal via a private vehicle. The members will be loading your bags onto the vehicle and assisting you with the checkout procedures. The clients are requested to share their honest feedback to the representatives of the team so for your next adventure to the Himalayas we will be able to provide you and other clients even better service. The representatives will be bidding you farewell at the airport marking the end to an adventure filled trip.

Yala Peak climb is one of the easiest and non-technical peaks to climb which takes us to the heart of Langtang National Park. The Yala Peak climb falls in the challenging category of the trekking grade meaning it is quite demanding and complex so, the trekkers should be well prepared for the hurdles which can arise during the trek. The trekkers will be accompanied by experienced guides and porters for the trek which makes the trek a bit comfortable and stress free.
For the Yala Peak Climbing the trekkers need no past climbing experience and can summit the peak with the assistance of the guides and porters, however the trekkers should be physically and mentally prepared to withstand the harsh and challenging terrains and weather conditions of the Himalayas. The trekkers are suggested to have a medical checkup before beginning their trek in order to identify if there are any health complications which can restrict the chances of summit and cause other health complications.
Yala Peak is one of the easy non technical peak climbs within the Langtang National Park with a success rate of 95%. The climb takes us to an maximum altitude of 5500 M at which the trekkers can feel lightheadedness and symptoms of altitude sickness which can be fatal if not taken care of immediately so, the trekkers are requested to inform your guides and team members as soon as possible.
Yala Peak is possible to summit throughout the year yet, the difficulty drastically increases during the Winter and Summer/ Monsoon Season (off-season) as the Himalayan weather becomes unpredictable and can increase the difficulty of the climb to unbearable at times so, the trekkers are suggested to summit the Yala Peak during the Spring and Autumn season during which the conditions for summit is favorable.
During the Yala Peak climb the trekkers can encounter a wide range of animals and birds if the trekkers are lucky. There is also a rare chance of encountering endangered species during the trek including Snow Leopard, Musk Deer, Red Panda and many more. The trekkers can also see different species of birds including rare species such as Himalayan Monal, Tibetan Patridge, Kalij Pheasant, Indian Peafowl, Common Pochard, Satyr Tragopan and almost 370 other species of birds are found in the Langtang National Park region.
Yes, during the trek the trekkers can suffer from different medical illnesses due to the altitude. As we will be trekking to an altitude of 5500 M the atmospheric pressure and oxygen level is considerably low making the trekkers feel lightheadedness and other symptoms related to altitude sickness. If the trekkers feel any symptoms rising make sure to inform the guides who will assess the situation by measuring you oxygen using an oximeter after which the team will provide medicines from the first aid kits and if he health of the clients will deteriorate further then the clients will be transferred to Kathmandu in a Hospital via a helicopter.
To summit the Yala Peak the trekkers are not required to purchase any extra special permits however the trekkers are compulsorily to carry a Langtang National Park permit and TIMS card (Not required for Nepali citizens) to participate in the trek. If you are planning to do the Yala Peak climb with the Mountain Ram Adventures team then the team members will make the necessary arrangements for the permits and collect it on behalf of the clients before their arrival for smooth operation of the tour. The trekkers can collect the required permits from Immigration office in Kalikasthan, Kathmandu which is a simple and hassle free process.
During the Yala Peak Climbing Tour the trekkers will trek for a total of 88.6 KM in 8 days averaging around 10 KM per day for an average of 5 hours per day. The trekkers are suggested to trek according to their own pace as not listening to your body can lead to fatigue which can cause different problems during trekking.
During your trek it is better to carry altitude sickness medicine for personal emergencies but it is not compulsory as the team members assigned by the Mountain Ram Adventures will be carrying a first aid kit which contains basic medicines for altitude related illnesses.
Yes, there is a high chance that the trekkers will be able to experience snowfall during their Yala Peak Climbing which will increase the beauty of the trekking trail and if it snows heavily then to navigate through the route can be difficult. Due to the chances of snowfall the team has designed the package with an additional day as spare for bad weather conditions.
