Detail About Chulu East Peak Climbing

Located north of the Annapurna massif (28°44'09''N / and 84°02'10" E), Chulu east peak climbing offers unique technical climbing elements, a spectacular 900m climb, and quick access to the summit. Chulu East is part of the Chulu range. Our Chulu east peak climbing is a perfect long journey in the Annapurna region that offers travelers an immersive trekking experience, the thrill of climbing a 6,000-meter above peak, and an adventurous trail.

From the peak of Chulu East, one can enjoy breathtaking views of Annapurna (I II, III, and IV), Gangapurna (7,455 m/24,459 ft), Glacier Dome, Dhaulagiri (8,167 m/26,795 ft), Tilicho Peak (7,134 m/23,406 ft), and Mt. Manaslu (8,163 m/26,781 ft). Similarly, you will also get to witness many other mountains and diverse landscapes.

Although Chulu east peak expedition may not be as popular as other peak climbing packages in Nepal, the peak offers a fantastic journey in the western Himalayas. Chulu East Peak climbing route

The standard climbing route for Chulu East Peak is via the Northeast ridge, and our attempt to reach the summit will be from the high camp (5,335 m/17,503 ft) located just below Chulu Far East (6,584 m/21,601 ft). The high camp (also known as C1) is situated 3.7 km north of the base camp. The average slope between the base camp and the high camp is 22°, with an elevation gain of 900m.

To allow for proper acclimatization, we will spend one day at high camp, but we are always willing to adjust our schedule to meet our client's needs. The summit route is 4.5 km long from the high camp and requires advanced glacier travel skills and navigation to reach the bottom of the summit ridge successfully.

The steepest part of the climb is at the bottom of the summit ridge, where you will encounter a slope of 45° for 450 meters. Once on the ridge, the average gradient is below 30°, and the overall distance measures 2 km, with an elevation gain of 600 meters along this ridge.

Summit day will be very long and strenuous, requiring climbers to ascend from the high camp to the summit and return to the base camp in a single day, covering a total distance of 12 km, with a total elevation gain of 1,400 meters and an elevation loss of 2,300 meters.

After summiting the Chulu east peak, we will walk to beautiful Manang village and continue trekking towards the Thorong La pass. This makes the venture furthermore exhilarating and lets you explore the picturesque villages and viewpoints along the way.

You can customize the itinerary and remove the Annapurna circuit part from it. If this is your first time climbing, then we highly recommend you do the Annapurna circuit as well to get your body ready for other strenuous adventures. Chulu east peak climbing emergency and evacuation

In the event of an emergency, we have a clear plan of action and are equipped with the necessary gear to ensure our guest's safety. If a climber becomes ill or injured during the climb, we first stabilize the individual and provide basic medical care. This can include administering medication for altitude sickness, providing first aid for injuries, and ensuring that the individual is warm and comfortable.

If the individual's condition does not improve or worsens, we may evacuate them from the mountain. We are always equipped with a satellite phone to call for help. We will ask our rescue team for their service. All the charges incurred during the rescue mission will be paid through your travel insurance.

Chulu east peak is located in the Manang district of Nepal, in the Annapurna region of the Himalayas. It is part of the Chulu mountain range and is situated to the east of the Annapurna massif. The peak has an elevation of 6,584 meters (21,601 feet).

The first recorded ascent of Chulu east peak was made in 1955 by a German expedition led by Harald Biller. Since then, the peak has become a popular climbing destination for mountaineers seeking to summit a Himalayan peak of moderate difficulty.

To climb Chulu east peak, climbers typically start from the town of Chame in the Manang district and trek to the Ngawal village, where they acclimatize to the high altitude. From Ngawal, ascend to the Chulu east base camp, which is located at an elevation of around 4,600 meters (15,092 feet).

Meet our representatives at the Tribhuvan International Airport upon your landing. They will be waiting for you at the terminal gate. After a quick meet and greet, our airport team will load your luggage in the car and drive you to the hotel.

Today, we will prepare for Pisang peak climbing, but first, we will go on a short guided tour. We will be visiting some famous tourist sites like Kathmandu Durbar Square, Monkey Temple, Pashupatinath Temple, and Boudhanath Stupa. The tour will be a great insight into Nepali culture, art, and tradition.

Later in the afternoon, we will meet in our office. The mountain guide will say hello to you and brief you on the program. And we proceed with packing for the journey. If anything is missing, today is your last chance to buy.

After having a delicious breakfast, we will leave Kathmandu. Driving along the Trishuli and Marsyangdi rivers, the trail winds following winding verdant hills to Ngadi village. We can see lovely waterfalls, terraces, mountains, and small settlements on the way. It will be a long and scenic ride from Kathmandu to Ngadi, from where we will begin trekking.

Begin your journey by heading northward towards a suspension bridge that spans the Nagdi Khola. Once you arrive, you'll notice a track on the right which leads to Utsa village. Taking the path leading upward towards Marsyangdi, you'll eventually reach Lampata village. The trail from here is steep. We will trek for around two hours to reach Bahundanda, a village perched on a hill at a height of 1,314 meters.

After lunch, trek down a steep slope for roughly thirty minutes until you come across the Dhule Khola. Cross over the river to reach the village of Besi. In approximately one hour, you'll be rewarded with a stunning view of the magnificent Syange waterfall (1,136 m), flowing from the high plain hamlet of Ghulima. From here, it will take around two hours to reach Jagat village, situated atop the mountain ridge.

After spending some time in Jagat village, we will continue our journey by walking for approximately 2 km on the road until we reach a split. Here, the trekking route went uphill for about 1.5 km until Chamche village. At this point, the route joined with the road briefly, but soon after the village, the trekking route will continue on the other side of the river. Eventually, both routes converged again just before Tal.

We will get to see stunning mountain scenery, including bizarre mountain formations and numerous waterfalls. The sight of the big river at the bottom added to the beauty of the landscape. Overall, the journey was filled with stunning vistas that left us in awe.

As we continue walking, we will soon find ourselves entering the Manang district. Climbing a stone stairway, we'll reach Dharapani after navigating a few uphill and downhill trails. Along the way from Dharapani to Bagarchhap, we'll come across several chortens and stupas, some of which date back up to a century.

Leaving Dharapani behind, we'll make our way toward Bagarchhap, where we'll have the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the beautiful Buddhist community. Spend the night in one of the stone houses among the locals who have been heavily influenced by Tibetan culture. It's an experience unlike any other and one that is sure to leave a lasting impression.

After a much-needed rest in Bagarchhap, it's time to hit the trail once again and make our way toward Chame, the headquarters of the Manang district. Chame is a stunning village that offers magnificent views of the Lamjung Himal range. The village also boasts a bustling market that is well worth exploring.

The trail from Bagarchhap to Chame is picturesque, with plenty of ups and downs. As you make your way along the trail, you'll be treated to stunning views of the surrounding mountains and lush green forests. Before you know it, you'll have arrived at Kopar, where you'll need to cross a river before continuing on the trail to Chame.

Leaving Chame, we will trek to Hongde village. The trail offers stunning views of Annapurna II, Manaslu, and Larkya La pass. Along the way, we will cross many wooden bridges and trek past Buddhist villages like Talekhu and Bhatang via a place called Swargadwari. It means gates to heaven. We can see locals doing their daily chores.

After enjoying a hearty breakfast, it's time to set off on our trek to Ngawal Village. We'll begin by walking past the airstrip at Humde before dropping down to lower Pisang. Along the way, you'll have the pleasure of experiencing the unique Gurung and Tibetan cultures, as well as seeing the traditional flat-roofed houses, old monasteries, and mani walls.

As we continue on the trail, we'll reach Ghyaru and be treated to breathtaking views of Annapurna II, Annapurna IV, Annapurna III, and Gangapurna. Soon, we'll arrive at Ngawal Village, where we'll spend the night. With its stunning views and unique cultural experiences, Ngawal is truly a special place to rest and recharge on our trek.

Today's trek will take us away from the Annapurna round trek and towards Chulu East Base Camp. We'll hike through the beautiful villages of Munchi and Braga, making our way toward Manang. As we continue, we'll be treated to stunning views of the majestic Annapurna Range, Tilicho Peak, and many others.

The trail will be rugged and rocky. We'll make our way up to the top of the ridge, crossing a sparsely forested path that leads to Chulu East Base Camp. The base camp offers spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and is the perfect place to rest before continuing climbing towards the high camp.

After the previous day's long trek to Chulu East Base Camp, it is essential to acclimatize and get ready for the next day's adventure. Therefore, we will be spending a day at the base camp to rest and adjust to the higher altitude. The day will be utilized to check our gears, receive a demonstration of the do's and don'ts, and make necessary arrangements for the climb ahead.

We will also go for a short hike around the base camp with a spectacular view of the Annapurna massifs towering in the background. Furthermore, we will also hike around the area to adjust better to the Himalayan atmosphere and prepare for the ascent to the summit of Chulu East.

From the base camp, we set out early in the morning and begin our ascent along a steep trail that winds its way up the rocky slopes toward the high camp. The path is rugged and demanding, and we must be mindful of the steep drops and loose rocks that line the trail.

As we ascend, the landscape changes dramatically, and we are treated to a panoramic view of the surrounding peaks and valleys. The jagged peaks of the Annapurna range loom majestically in the distance, and the sprawling Manang valley stretches out below us, a vast expanse of greenery and rocky outcroppings.

As we near the high camp, the terrain becomes increasingly challenging, and we must use ropes and harnesses to navigate the steep and exposed sections of the trail. The air grows thin, and our bodies are pushed to their limits as we struggle to maintain our pace in the face of the daunting ascent.

Today marks the pinnacle of our expedition, the summit day, where we must begin our journey before daybreak, while the sky is still cloaked in a canopy of glittering stars. Our path will lead us along trails that meander towards a snow-blanketed ridge, offering us an unparalleled vista of the Himalayas.

From this lofty vantage point, we will be treated to a panoramic view of the Annapurna massif, Dhaulagiri (8167m), Hiunchuli (6441m), and the sprawling Manang valley sprawled below. The breathtaking scenery that surrounds us is a testament to the arduous journey we have undertaken thus far.

Upon reaching the summit, we will capture the moment with stunning photographs and begin our descent back to the high camp, where we will spend the night in a tented camp, reveling in the thrill of our triumphant achievement.

Leaving behind the awe-inspiring Chulu East Peak Base Camp, we embark on the next leg of our journey toward the quaint town of Manang. As we descend, the topography and vegetation gradually transform before our eyes. The once snow-capped mountains slowly give way to barren landscapes, and the lush greenery gives way to a more arid environment.

As we trek further down, the panoramic views of the surrounding mountains continue to captivate us. The towering Tilicho Peak, the majestic Annapurna Range, and the rugged Gangapurna are just a few of the many natural wonders that we can marvel at. After a long day of trekking, we finally reach the serene town of Manang, where we will get welcomed by the warm hospitality of the locals.

The trail from Khangsar is a winding descent that takes us through stunning natural landscapes, brimming with a diverse range of flora and fauna. The trail crosses the Jharsang Khola and goes through the sparse forests of juniper rose, and berry. The few meadows and mani walls that we encounter along the way offer a welcome change of scenery, providing us with a glimpse of the tranquil beauty that surrounds us.

The trail descends to Yak Kharka, also known as Koche, where we take a much-needed break and savor a delicious lunch. Energized and refreshed, we'll continue trekking toward Churi Lattar, a stunning location that offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

Leaving the beautiful surroundings of Churi Ledar behind, we continue our trek. The path begins to climb steadily upwards towards Thorung Phedi. The trail goes through vast pastures, where we can see animals like Tahrs and yaks. The stunning natural beauty of the area is a sight to behold.

After a short lunch break, we make our way toward Thorung Phedi, a small hill overlooking a high plateau. The name Thorung Phedi translates to 'foot of the hill'. It is the perfect place to rest and rejuvenate before tackling the challenging ascent that awaits us in the days to come.

After climbing Pisang peak, today is another challenging day ahead of us as we will navigate the highest mountain pass in Nepal. From Thorong Phedi, we will gradually ascend to the High Camp. We will begin trekking around 3:00 AM to avoid the strong afternoon wind.

Upon reaching the top of the pass, the grand mountain panorama will unfold itself. Giant mountains like Annapurna will dominate the sky. We can see Tibet far in the north. After enjoying the views, we will begin descending from the pass to the sacred Muktinath temple. The trail is rocky and a bit slippery in some places, so we have to be careful.

Muktinath is a pilgrimage for Hindus and Buddhists. The temple complex has 108 stone water sprouts and an eternal flame. The history of this temple goes back 2000 years. Our short time here will be very divine and nurturing.

After a warm breakfast, we will leave Muktinath and follow a scenic tranquil trail to Kagbeni. The trail goes along the cliffside and further passes by Kali Gandaki gorge, which is believed to be the deepest in the world. The trail goes past Khingar at 3,200 meters and offers barren landscapes.

From Kagbeni to Jomsom is a short distance. The trail is also flat and easy. We get to witness lovely scenery, unique rock formations, and snow-capped mountains on the way. We will trek through narrow alleys and mud-brick homes, seeing the daily lifestyle of the locals towards the Jomsom village, where this long adventurous journey ends.

Early in the morning, we will take a short and stunning flight to Pokhara. The aerial views of snow-capped mountains like Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, Pisang Peak, Nilgiri, Tukuche, etc are surreal. Upon landing in Pokhara, we will drop you at the hotel. Enjoy the remaining day resting and relaxing at the shore of Phewa Lake. Explore the bustling Lakeside Market and enjoy your time in this beautiful city of lakes, Pokhara.

Today, we'll drive back to Kathmandu. The drive will be 6 to 7 hours long along the Marsyangdi and Trishuli rivers. It will be a smooth ride as we will use a comfortable tourist standard bus. The views of hills and waterfalls along the way are soothing.

Once we reach Kathmandu, the guide will drop you at the hotel. You have a remaining day to sort your things and later go shopping. We end the day with a delicious farewell dinner with the team.
