Langtang Gosainkund Pass trek is pure Himalayan magic and all just a day's journey from Kathmandu. The trek starts in the town of Syabrubesi and heads up river, through the dense pine, bamboo and rhododendron forests of the 1,170 km sq Langtang National Park, teeming with wildlife and exotic bird species. Further up the valley as the forest gives way to the alpine meadows around Kyanjin Gompa, you will be sure the see yak grazing (lang is the Tibetan word for yak and teng means to follow), whilst being reward with outstanding mountain views, seemingly only a stone's throw away.
After exploring the area around Kyanjin Gompa and sampling the famous local cheese, we will retrace our steps as far as Lama Hotel before heading towards the stunning, sacred lakes of Gosainkund. The lakes are considered holy by both Hindus and Buddhists alike and many Hindus make the pilgrimage to bathe in the lakes during the August full moon festival of Janai Purnima.
We will then head over the Laurebinayak pass and down through steep terraced countryside to the Shivapuri National Park, just north of Kathmandu. The area is home to Tamang, Newari and Chhetri people and is a wonderful example of Nepal's harmonious ethnic diversity.

We will be arriving in the bustling capital of Kathmandu for our beautiful Langtang Gosainkunda Pass Trek with the Mountain Ram Adventures team. We will be greeted by the representatives upon our arrival in the Tribhuvan International Airport. We will be swiftly transferred to our accommodation for the day in a comfortable vehicle. We will be staying in a 3 star hotel during our stay in Kathmandu, usually around the Thamel area. We will check in to our rooms, freshen up and explore the explosive Thamel area. We can purchase/ rent good quality gears required for our trek from the Thamel area at an affordable rate. At the evening time we will be meeting up with the team members going over our trip plan and meeting up with our guides assigned for the journey.
We will be heading to Syabrubesi in a comfortable bus. The journey to Syabrubesi is absolutely stunning, filled with captivating sites of the mid hills and Himalayas. The journey will take us around 7 hours(122 KM) in total leading us all the way to the starting point of many if not all the trekking destinations within the Langtang Region, Syabrubesi. We will be staying in a cozy guest house/ tea house for the night, resting well for the tremendous adventure beginning from the next day.
Today, after having our breakfast we will be heading to Lama Hotel marking the beginning of the sensational Langtang Gosainkunda Trek, we will make our way through the steady trail towards Bamboo, where we will be having our lunch. After lunch we will pass through Rimche and Tatopani which leads us to Lama Hotel. Lama Hotel is a small beautiful settlement located amidst the dense forest of the Langtang National park beside the bank of Langtang Khola, offering us a tranquil and serene environment.
We will be heading from Lama hotel to Langtang village. The trail is comfortable to trek on and filled with stunning views of the Himalayas. As we make our way towards the upper Langtang Valley, we will notice the dramatic shift of fauna around us. The lush forest begins to dwindle as we gain elevation, opening up for us to enjoy the mesmerizing views of the deep Himalayan Valleys. We will pass through the settlements of Ghodatabela
Thangshyap. Each step and turn towards Langtang Valley is filled with stunning views of the pristine Himalayan peaks including the highest peak of the Langtang Himalaya
n Range, Langtang Lirung(7234 M). After a scenic ascend of 6 hours we will reach Langtang Village, the destination of our 4th day.
We will be trekking from Langtang Village towards Kyanjin Gompa( Kyanjin Kharka) enjoying awe-inspiring views of the Himalayas. The trail is a comparatively short one of just around 4.5 KM which will take us no more than 4 hours. We will pass through glacier streams flowing from the mighty peaks down to Langtang Khola. After a beautiful and scenic ascent we will reach Kyanjin Gompa and check into our rooms for the night. We will freshen up and explore the village for a bit and then rest early for the upcoming journey the next day.
Today, a beautiful and adventurous Himalayan journey awaits us. We will either head to Kyanjin Ri(4770 M) or Tserko Ri(5033 M) on our 6th day. We will be taking only our essentials for the journey including water bottles, snacks and powerbank at most, as we will be returning back to Kyanjin Gompa for the night after our ascent.
Tserko Ri(5033 M) is a challenging ascent filled with rugged terrain which will take us around 5-6 hours in total. The views from Tserko Ri are unparalleled and stunning. The trek can be challenging for us due to the elevation, and if we face any difficulties during our ascent to Tserko Ri we will be required to inform our guides about it who will make sure we will ascend to the village. We will be able to enjoy the beautiful views of the Langtang Lirung(7234 M), Dorje Lakpa(6966 M), Gangchenpo(6388 M),Yala Peak (5520 M), Langshisha Ri(6427 M) and many other snow capped peaks during our journey.
The hike up to Kyanjin Ri(4770 M) is a more relaxed one than Tserko Ri, yet still challenging and adventurous. The trails are steep and inclined, filled with rugged Himalayan terrains. We will be able to enjoy the scenic views of the Langtang Himals and the beautiful Kyanjin Village at the foot of Kyanjin Ri. The hike up to Kyanjin Ri will take us just around 5 hours in total. We will head back towards Kyanjin Gompa after honoring ourselves with the mesmerizing views of the Himalayas.
We will be heading down to Lama Hotel after a beautiful and scenic hike to Kyanjin Ri/ Tserko Ri the previous day. We will begin our descent towards Lama Hotel after enjoying the beautiful golden sunrise over the intimidating peaks and having our warm breakfast. The descent will take us around 6 hours during which we will be covering around 23 KM, the longest distance covered in a single day during our Langtang Gosainkunda Pass Trek. The descent will be comfortable and we will again be able to witness the shift in terrain and fauna, as we get down to Lama Hotel the abundant lush forest wraps the trail leading us all the way to Lama Hotel, the last point of our day 7 descent.
Today, enjoying the tranquility amidst the lush forest we will have our breakfast and head towards Thulo Syabru which will take us 5 hours in total. We make our way through the abundant forest towards Bamboo and after passing bamboo we will reach the junction of the Langtang Valley trek and Gosainkunda Trek. We will head towards the Gosainkunda Trail and ascend towards Thulo Syabru through the lush forest of the Langtang National Park. During our hike we might encounter the species of the Langtang Region including Himalayan Langurs, Himalayan Tahr, Musk Deers and many species of monkeys as well. In extremely rare cases we will be able to spot Red Pandas as well. After a beautiful trek we will reach Thulo Syabru where we will be spending our night.
The trek to Cholangpati is mostly filled with comfortable ascents which begin as we make our way through the beautiful farmlands of Thulo Syabru. The trek will take us through Phoprang and Sing Gompa(Chandanbari), where we will be having our lunch. We will make our way towards Cholangpati after having our lunch and passing through the trail under the abundant lush forest of the Langtang Region. After a mesmerizing trek filled with the captivating sites of the lush hills and glimpses of the Himalayas we will reach Cholangpati where we will be spending our night in a cozy tent house.
We will be heading to Gosainkunda( Frozen Lake) at an elevation of 4150 M. The Gosainkunda Lake is one of the sacred sites for the Hindu community. There are around 108 Kundas(water bodies: lake, pond) in the Gosainkunda Region and among them Gosainkunda is considered to be the most revered one. We will make our way towards Gosainkunda after having a healthy meal to fuel us up for our trek. We will firstly head towards Lauribinayak, a renowned spot to enjoy the tentelating views of the Himalayas including peaks from the Langtang, Ganesh and Manaslu Himalayan Range. Soaking in the views, we head towards Gosainkunda Lake. On the way to Gosainkunda we will be able to enjoy some beautiful views of the Saraswati Kunda and Bhairav Kunda which leads us to Gosainkunda where we will be staying in a cozy tea house nestled in the shore of the holy lake.
We wake up early in the morning to enjoy the surreal views of the Gosainkunda Lake and enjoy our breakfast. We make our way towards the Lauribina La Pass (Gosainkunda Pass) at an elevation of 4610 M. while ascending towards the Pass we will be able to enjoy the beautiful views of the Nilkantha Kunda, Surya Kunda, Chandra Kunda, Ragat Kunda, Ama Kunda and other many Kundas along the trail. After an adventurous ascent we will reach the top of the Pass from where we will honour ourselves with the views and then head towards Ghopte, the destination for the day. We will Pass through Dhupi Chaur and Phedi where we will rest for a bit and have our lunch. We will be entering the Helambu Region during our descent from the Pass. We will reach Ghopte after trekking around 7 hours in total.
We head towards Mangengoth from Ghopte on our 12th day passing through Tharepati, Saune and Dobate leading us all the way. The trail passes through the dense forest of the lower Langtang National Park filled with Rhododendron and Oak trees. The trail is soft and comfortable to trek on and during our descent we will be able to spot the elusive species of the National Park. After trekking for 5 hours we will reach Mangengoth where we will be resting for the night in a cozy tea house.
We head towards Kutumsang at an elevation of 2470M from Mangengoth. The trek will take us around 5 hours(7 KM) and we will be passing through the beautiful. We will be ab;e to enjoy the mesmerizing views of the Ganchenpo Himal(6388 M). The trail is well maintained and stable to trek on. The trail is absolutely stunning and provides us with a sense of tranquility and Shangri-La. After a mesmerizing trek we will reach Kutumsang, the final point of our descent on the 13th day.
The comfortable offbeat trail from Kutumsang begins with a descent to Chisapani is a mesmerizing trek. We will pass through Laspe Danda, Gul Bhanjyang and Pati Bhanjyang. We will also be exploring the small yet beautiful monastery along the trail towards Thotung Danda. The trek is gentle and after covering around 15 KM in around 5-6 hours we will reach Chisapani where we will be spending our night in the tea house.
Today will be our last trekking day of the Langtang Gosainkunda Pass Trek and during which we will be hiking down to Sundarijal from Chisapani which will take just around 3 hours for us to reach. From Chisapani we will be heading back to the capital on a scheduled local bus. The journey will be filled with the views of the capital valley and the hills surrounding Kathmandu. After a beautiful journey of 2 hours we will reach the capital from where we will be transferred to our accommodation in Kathmandu. We will freshen up and rest in our rooms or head out to explore the Thamel area and during the evening time we will be meeting with the Mountain Ram Adventures team for a farewell dinner hosted by the company. We will be receiving our certificate for completing the trek and will be sharing our experience and opinion of the trek. After dinner we will be heading back to our accommodation for the night.
Our beautiful Langtang Gosainkunda Pass Trek is completed and today, the representatives will be arriving at our hotel and assisting us with our check out formalities. We will be transferred to the Tribhuvan International Airport around 3 hours before our flight back in a comfortable vehicle. The representatives will be bidding us farewell at the airport marking the end to the beautiful tour.

The permits required for the Langtang Gosainkunda Pass Trek are the Langtang National Park Permit and the TIMS Card. The trekkers can apply for the permit from the immigration office of Nepal and collect it from the office itselves. They can also apply for the permit from their official website.
The permit of the Langtang National Park costs 3000 NPR per trekker and for the TIMS Card it costs around 2000 NPR per trekker. The participants trekking with the company will not need to worry about the permit as it is included in the package and will be applied for and collected by the representatives of the company.
The trekkers are requested to carry extra money for the trek even if they are trekking with the company, as the trekkers will be liable to cover for their personal expenses and during any emergencies the trip can be extended which the trekkers will be liable to cover for their own.
There are no ATMs in the trail of the Langtang Gosainkunda Pass trekking trail so, the trekkers will need to carry the funds from Kathmandu. There are few ATMs in Syabrubesi but the trekkers are suggested to stay prepared from Kathmandu instead of relying on the ATMs in Syabrubesi as they can be out of service at times. Trekkers are recommended to carry cash in NPR for their trek as most of the tea houses accept NPRas a form of payment in the Langtang Region..
The Avalanches and Landslides are not a threat while trekking on the Langtang Gosainkunda Pass Trek during the Spring and Autumn season which spans from March to May and September to November respectively. The trekkers will need to be aware about the Landslides and Avalanches if they are trekking during the Season of Winter and Summer/ Monsoon as the weather conditions can get extreme during the months.
The trekkers trekking in the trail of Langtang Gosainkunda Pass Trek are to be compulsorily accompanied by the licensed guides for their journey as per the policies of the authorities. Here at the company, the trekkers will be assigned with guides who are well versed and experienced with the Langtang Region and assist the trekkers in their journey.
The trekking trail of the Langtang Gosainkunda Pass trek is comfortable to trek on and it falls in the Moderate Trekking grade. The trekkers can easily conquer the trekking trail of the Langtang Gosainkunda Pass Trek even if they are trekking for the first time. The trekkers will have a comfortable journey and as the trekkers will be accompanied by their guide their journey will be even more comfortable and relaxed.
The best time to participate in the Langtang Gosainkunda Pass Trek is during the Autumn and Spring season which covers the months from September to November and March to May. The conditions during the seasons are pleasant to trek on and the trekkers will be able to enjoy the uninterrupted views of the Himalayas.
The Guides assigned for the trek will be experienced and ensure the trekkers will have a safe journey to the Himalayas and during any emergencies the trekkers will be treated by their guides assigned for their journey who will assess the situation and treat the clients and if the health of the clients worsens then the guide will request for a emergency evacuation, transfering the trekkers to a hospital in Kathmandu via Helicopter.
The Langtang Gosainkunda Pass Trek can get extremely crowded during the season of Autumn and trekkers trekking during that time independently are suggested to book facilities in advance. The trail can also get crowded during the Spring Season which in comparison to the Autumn season will be lower.
The elevation during the trek can become a problem for trekkers and if they feel any discomfort they are requested to inform their guides about it. The trekkers while in the Higher Himalayas will not be gaining more than 500 M in elevation as per the presented itinerary above. The trekkers can carry medicines for altitude sickness during the trek, as the guides assigned for the journey will be carrying a First Aid kit with them for the journey.

Although trekking during the Summer/ Monsoon season is possible, the trekkers may face some difficulties including constant rain, slippery and muddy trails, bugs and insects and many other factors. While trekking in the Monsoon season the trekkers will not be able to enjoy the views of the Himalayas as the Beautiful Himalayan Views are obstructed by the Monsoon clouds. On the brighter side the trekking trail during the Monsoon season is mostly empty, providing trekkers with the opportunity to have a tranquil and peaceful experience.

Langtang Gosainkunda Pass Trek during the Winter Season is a perfect time for trekkers who are able to withstand the harsh and extreme cold conditions of the Himalayas and avoid a trekking crowd. During the Langtang Gosainkunda Pass Trek the High himalayan region is mostly covered under a thick layer of snow making it difficult for the trekkers to navigate through the trail. The winter season turns the Langtang Region into a Snowy Paradise filled with pristine views of the Himalayan Valleys. The trekkers will be required to carry warm clothes, crampons and trekking poles for their journey during the winter season. Trekking in the Langtang Region during the month of December is favorable as the weather condition is still bearable and the flow of trekkers is also quite low.

Langtang Region is one of the popular trekking destinations in the Himalayas and facilities such as Hot Shower, Internet, Charging, Laundry and many more are available in the Himalayas. All the additional facilities mentioned above cost extra and are not included in the package. The trekkers will be required to cover for the expenses themselves.
Internet and Data: The Tea houses along the trek will have the internet facilities which costs additional charges and intotal will be quite expensive. The trekkers instead can purchase a data pack for their journey by firstly obtaining a Nepali Sim card. The trekkers can then purchase a data pack which will last them for the entirety of the trek. The internet and Data connectivity in the Himalayas spikes a lot and is quite slow.
Charging: The trekkers are suggested to carry a powerbank with them for their journey which will last them for the entirety of their stay in the Higher region as in the upper valleys the tea houses charge certain fees for charging the electronic devices.
Laundry and Hot Shower: Even though Laundry service is available in the Himalayan Region the trekkers are suggested not to use the laundry facilities in the Himalayas as the clothes don't dry properly and it is not feasible. The trekkers are also suggested to not take hot showers while in the higher Langtang Region as trekkers can get sick if they don't dry their body properly.
