  16. Risks during the Makalu Base Camp Trek
The Makalu Base Camp Trek is one of the hidden gems of the Himalayas and is a remote offbeat trek, challenging trekkers to their absolute limits. The trekkers will be trekking to an elevation of 4870 M, the Makalu Base Camp and during the exploration day of the Base Camp trekkers will be trekking to a nearby view point which will be above 5000 M at which it may be difficult to breath for the trekkers due to the low atmospheric pressure and oxygen level. The trekkers are requested to inform their team members if they face any difficulties while trekking to the higher elevation as it can lead to severe cases of altitude sickness. The team will ensure the trekkers will be safe and if need be, they will request for emergency evacuation of the trekkers, transferring them to a hospital in a Helicopter.

The trekkers while in the Higher region may face difficulty in digesting the foods so, trekkers are required to have a balanced meal during the trek. The trekkers are also suggested to not have any meat products(except eggs) while trekking in the higher region as it can also cause indigestion making it difficult for the trekkers to continue their trek further. The trekkers are strongly requested to inform their team members of any allergies or health conditions they have to ensure any health hazard won't arise during the trek.

  17. Emergency Funds and Personal Expenses
The trekkers are recommended to carry around 300 USD equivalent in NPR( Nepalese currency) for their trek to the Himalayas which will be sufficient for their personal expenses and emergency funds while in the Himalayas. The trekkers need to be prepared for their journey while they are still in Kathmandu as there are no money exchange and ATMs on the trail of the Makalu Base Camp Trek. The trekkers will be charged by the banks for each of the transactions which can range anywhere from 3-8% depending on the bank.
