Makalu Base Camp Trekking is least visited trekking which lies in the eastern part of Nepal called Barun Valley starting from Arun Valley. Makalu is one of the 8000 meter peak which has been attempted to climb by Hillary but could not success. Makalu base camp trek is still waiting to be explored widely and it is still the virgin trek which can be done either in tea house basis or camping basis. Recently, locals have made some tea houses in the region which makes trekking bit easier and less expensive. Makalu trekking shelters 3000 species of flowering plants, 440 species of birds and 75 species of mammals. The towering granite cliffs capped with glaciers in the upper reaches of the Barun Valley have been likened to those of Yosemite – on a bigger scale! As you walk up the river valleys, immense mountain vistas will unfold before you, including the massifs of Makalu, Everest and Lhotse. This region is the land of Rai, Limbu and some Sherpa where you will be exploring local culture, great scenery of the green hills and White Mountains gradually.
