"3 day Poon Hill Trek - Excellence."
During a quick 15 day trip to Nepal which had more of a yoga focus, a friend and I (who had just let and become instant buddies) spontaneously decided to go on a short trek during our last days in the country. Through other friends we had heard only good reviews about Mountain Ram Adventures. Those rumors were completely true - and we also had an excellent experience thanks to Mountain Ram Adventures. Ram knows trekking in Nepal inside-out, and he is also an excellent judge of what his clients are looking to get out of their trekking experience. He set us up with the best possible experience for the time, budget and season we we had decided to trek. Everything was handled quickly and easily which was lovely because the experience was completely stress free. Added bonus is that his English is awesome - communication was perfect. Ram set us up on a 3 day version of the Poon Hill trek (this trek can be 4-5 days, but we were limited in time) which gives excellent vistas of the Annapurna I & II (and entire range during sunrise on Poon Hill), Fishtail Mountain, Gangapurna, waterfalls, jungle-type forests and all of the local villages and tea-huts in-between. The accommodations along our trek were absolutely excellent - Dipak Guest House in Tikhedunga was clean, colorful, welcoming and had delicious food and sunny, nature-rich views. Sunny Hotel in Ghorepani was more of the same with an amazing atmosphere in the dining hall during the evening. Poon Hill was an early 40 minute grind from Ghorepani for the sunrise on our last day, and despite clouds, was still an excellent way to start our day and end the trek. Pawan was the perfect guide. He paced perfectly, added conversation and humor where/when appropriate, but also let us have girly-walk-and-talk when appropriate. We must have asked him one hundred questions about Nepal and Nepalese culture and he answered them all with a smile and usually some laughs. If you have him as a guide be sure to ask about "Dal Bhat Power 24 Hour". I would definitely recommend Mountain Ram Adventures. Enjoy!
